Interested in being a tour guide?
The JSA Initiatives fund provides money for graduate students to act as tour guides and radiological escorts for tours. Tours are usually ~90 minutes with the pay being $30 per tour as a radiological tour escort and $50 per tour as a lead tour guide. Requirements: Rad Worker I, ODH, sign the current Radiation Work Permit (RWP), and if escorting into one of the halls, then the Safety Training for that hall. If you are interested in being put on the list of available tour escorts or guides for the future, please email Michelle Lechman (lechman@jlab.org).
Logo Contest
Anybody interested in opening a "LOGO contest" for our association?? We could ask the grad students and post docs to come up with a logo for the GSPDA to be placed on our wiki webpage for now. Just a frivolous idea.
JSA Promising Young Scientist program
Dear JLab post-docs,
The JSA Promising Young Scientist program is now accepting applications for the academic year 2011-2012. Applications are due on Monday May 2, 2011.
With the support of JSA, we invite some of the best and brightest post-doctoral researchers affiliated with JLab to present a colloquium and meet with the faculty at one of the participating institutions. We assist the candidates in crafting an accessible colloquium talk, and collect positive criticism from the audience. Ultimately, this will provide the candidate with valuable experience when competing for permanent positions.
For more details on the program, including instructions on how to apply, please consult the JSA Promising Young Scientist program webpage at:
